White Angel (Cherub) Column — Neo-Rococo Pedestal for Statue or Vase

This impressive decorative column-pedestal (cherub pedestal) belongs to that rare category of furniture that is both a functional stand and a standalone sculptural work. At the round base, back to back, stand two full-haired angel children (cherubs) — with bowed heads, dreamily lowered eyes, with such tenderness on their faces that for a moment you forget it is white stone, not living flesh. Above them rises a stem of carved leaves and tendrils, entwined by a garland of flowers, and crowned by a wide, deeply profiled acanthus leaf and olive wreath capital — a ready surface for a vase, bust, or magnificent houseplant.

The material is cast stone (gypsum composite in marble imitation) — massive, uniformly matte, in a warm white tone, with that muted, powdery surface reminiscent of the elegance of biscuit porcelain. The detail work is high: the children’s curly hair is crafted strand by strand, the modeling of the hands and feet is natural and soft.

Craftsmanship & Period
According to its composition, the treatment of the putti, and the rocaille taste, the pedestal is made in the Neo-Rococo / Louis XV style — a decorative work whose aesthetic directly continues the 18th-century tradition with its playful angels and dynamic lines. It is an authentic interpretation of its time, not a historical original.

Application & Interior Use
An ideal stand for a sculpture, an expensive porcelain vase, a large bouquet of flowers, or a plant composition; it fits perfectly in a living room, hall, conservatory, or by a staircase. Its white matte surface harmonizes with both dark antique wood and light modern interiors.

Condition
Good, commensurate with age and size. The surface shows light traces of use and dust, the top plate has a natural patina (see photos). The construction is stable and very heavy — best moved by two people. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
