Antiquarian Porcelain Tea & Coffee Service for 11 Persons

An exceptional and remarkably well-preserved late 19th-century Historicism porcelain table service, beautifully completed for 11 persons (antique porcelain tea set). This grand ensemble is distinguished by its highly unusual and prestigious composition, featuring two large, stately beverage pitchers (suitable for tea or coffee) decorated with fluted handles and sculpted finials. The set is further enhanced by a large milk jug, a double-handled sugar bowl, a deep slop bowl, and 11 elegant tea cups with matching saucers. Crafted from fine, translucent white porcelain, each piece exhibits a molded scalloped wavy border along the lower body. The exterior is adorned with a romantic transferware pattern of soft purple violets and variegated geranium leaves, accented by hand-painted gold scrolls along the rims. The bases show handwritten gold artisan numbers (“1616 / VII”), indicative of custom porcelain decorating studios. The entire service is in pristine, investment-grade condition with no chips or restorations.

Period Style snapshot: The writer Anna Brigadere (Anna Brigadere) slowly and thoughtfully turned her gaze toward the window, outside of which the lilac bushes swayed gently in the summer afternoon breeze. She reached out and softly clasped the fluted handle of the freshly steeped porcelain pot, feeling its pleasant warmth and tracing the delicate pattern of violets and geranium leaves with her fingertips. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and tea leaves drifted through the room, and the two large, stately pitchers on the white tablecloth looked like two grand ladies ready to receive guests. This white porcelain ensemble, with the discreet shimmer of its gold lines, brought an unshakable, noble sense of peace to the quiet room, transforming an ordinary afternoon moment before the paragraphs of a new story into a slow and harmonious enjoyment of beauty.
