Period of manufacture The pair of lamps was made in the late 19th century, during the Historicism and Belle Époque (Beautiful Era) periods. It is designed in the aesthetic of Neoclassicism and Louis XV style, which experienced a new flourishing in European homes during this era, combining the splendor of classical palaces with the new technologies of the turn of the century — home electrification, where historical candelabra were transformed into elegant electric fixtures.

Material and design The items are solid and high-quality applied art castings made of brass or bronze, coated with a noble golden hue. Each lamp has a distinctive, vertically oriented wall plate, crowned at the top with a luxurious relief of acanthus leaves and shells, while the central axis is emphasized by straight, architectural grooves. Two elegantly curved, openwork S-shaped arms gracefully extend symmetrically from the base. They end with wide, wavy drip pans and matching sockets, covered with decorative, beige candle imitations with a historical drip wax relief. The authentic hollow construction with mounting holes for attachment and wire outlets remains on the back, confirming the technical substance of the items.

Application and condition Such a harmonious set of antique brass wall sconces pair is an excellent interior element for decorating a classic living room, hallway, or bedroom, especially on either side of a large wall mirror, painting, or above a console table, bringing a soft and cozy play of light into the space.
