Antiquarian Gilt Brass and Crystal 5-Light Chandelier — Louis XVI Style
This exceptional mid-20th-century French style 5-light ceiling fixture is a magnificent statement of period luxury, featuring a solid cast brass frame integrated with premium faceted crystal details (antique brass crystal chandelier 5 lights). The substantial, high-grade brass structure is meticulously detailed with high-relief acanthus leaves along the upper crown. While four bulb sockets are symmetrically arranged within the outer bell-shaped arms, a fifth light is uniquely positioned at the bottom center of the core, completely surrounded by the crystal cascade to illuminate the prisms from within. Composing the stately central cage are grand, tightly draped swags of polished crystal beads. The defining centerpiece of the lower register is a dense, tiered cascade of vertical faceted crystal icicle prisms, ensuring that the light is dramatically refracted to fill the room with a warm luster. Perfectly suited for a formal parlor, dining room, or bedroom, this historicist piece introduces a touch of Parisian high-society elegance to any refined interior. The condition is pristine with a beautifully aged genuine historic patina across the metalwork and fully checked wiring for all five lights. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
Louis XVI Style snapshot: Princess Mathilde Bonaparte (Mathilde Bonaparte) slowly walked through the salon of her Parisian town house, preparing for the weekly literary evening. Her gaze rose toward the ceiling chandelier, whose 4-armed gilded frame, dense crystal swags, and fifth central light glowing at the bottom center caught the dim light, making the faceted prisms illuminate from within. The cool, smooth cascade of glass prisms at the bottom contrasted with the raised contours of the brass acanthus leaves, which gleamed with a warm luster on the upper crown. The quiet sound of servants’ steps in the distance and the clinking of porcelain dishes merged with the geographic elegance and peaceful mood of anticipation, instantly transforming the space into an immortal ritual of art.
