Wooden fireplace screen with tapestry – Louis XVI style This extremely elegant fireplace screen (or guard) is a beautiful example of decorative art from the late 19th century, executed in the classic Louis XVI style. Its main function was to protect the room’s occupants from the direct heat of the fireplace, while also serving as a sophisticated decorative element. The walnut wood frame demonstrates the geometric harmony characteristic of this period. The vertical uprights are designed as fluted columns, topped with ball finials. The frame at the top is adorned with an exquisite ribbon motif, engraved in high relief. The central part features a finely woven tapestry depicting a romantic pastoral scene with birds and floral garlands. The screen is in a well-preserved historical condition with a beautiful natural patina on the wood. The tapestry is intact and has retained its colors. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs. Height: 114.5 cm Width: 70 cm Depth: 44.5 cm
