A snapshot from the Historicism era, Anna Brigadere: A calm summer evening slowly crept onto the veranda of “Sprīdīši” in Tērvete, and through the open windows, the intoxicating scent of blooming phlox and warm threshold wood flowed into the room. Quiet creative activity reigned on the round table — alongside the inkwell and carefully written manuscript pages rested delicate porcelain dishes, whose white glaze gently reflected the gold of the setting sun.

The writer put down her pen and leaned back in the wicker chair, letting her gaze linger on the flowing, almost dancing shapes of the dishes. She reached out and gently grasped the handle of a teacup; the cool porcelain under her fingers and the delicately painted violet flowers seemed like a direct continuation of the garden outside the window, where nature’s beauty harmonized with the masterpiece of human hands.

This quiet ritual of sipping tea was not just a daily habit; it was a moment when time stood still, allowing one to feel the deep, unwavering coziness and root strength of a homestead. Just as the fairy tales and stories born at this table would soon warm thousands of hearts, this elegant porcelain carried within it the promise of enduring values, peace, and generational continuity beyond the hurried flow of time.

Porcelain Tea Set with Violet Flowers — In the Historicism Style

This charming tea set for six people is a magnificent example of porcelain art, embodying the solidity of the Historicism style while harmoniously combining it with playful and flowing Neo-Rococo features. The shapes of the vessels are elegantly wavy and embossed, particularly highlighting the ornate handles of the cups and teapot, reminiscent of delicate plant tendrils. The white glaze background is accentuated by a delicate and natural motif of violet flowers, complemented by soft green foliage accents and fine gold lines along the edges.

Period of Manufacture The set dates from the late 19th / early 20th century. This was a time when European porcelain manufactories turned to the revival of historical styles, particularly favoring the romantic and ornate elements of the Rococo style and rich floral decorations, which brought a breath of nature into the interiors of townhouses and manors.

Application This complete set, including a teapot, sugar bowl, milk jug, and six cups with saucers, is ideal for leisurely afternoon tea or coffee enjoyment. It will be a wonderful centerpiece for the table, both for family celebrations and intimate conversations, bringing a historical aura and the coziness of a country manor into the room.

Condition The dishes have been preserved in very good historical condition. The porcelain is clear and stable, without cracks or chips. There is some natural, slight age-related wear in places on the gilding and floral decorations, which only enhances the authenticity and true age of the items. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
