Monumental antique style gilded brass and green onyx ceiling lamp

An exquisite and exceptionally massive six-arm ceiling chandelier, representing the magnificent and symmetrical Classicism or Louis XVI style design (antique brass onyx chandelier 6 lights). The lamp’s supporting frame is made of heavy, high-quality brass casting with a bright gilding, adorned with intricately crafted acanthus leaf scrolls, floral motifs, and classical joinery profile bands. The central axis is composed of monumental, turned, and polished green onyx stone details – a magnificent vase-shaped element in the middle and hemisphere-shaped elements at the junction points of the arms. The deep green, translucent texture of the stone with its soft natural bands creates a perfect aesthetic interplay with the warmth of the gilded metal. Six elegant, S-shaped arms extend from the central hub, ending in onyx cups and white bulb holders imitating candle shapes, which give the chandelier a historical and aristocratic character.

Period of creation Mid-20th century, made as a high-quality and solid continuation of the traditions and classical forms of historical European palace lighting fixtures.

Manufacturer / signature / stamp The chandelier is a high-quality work from European (most likely or Spanish) specialized art foundries and workshops that produced exclusive bronze, brass, and semi-precious stone interior items in the mid-20th century. Specific manufacturer stamps on the inside of the casting have not been preserved.

Rarity and significance Unlike ordinary fully metal or crystal chandeliers, models with massive green onyx details are relatively rarer and more highly valued due to the substance of their materials. The integration of onyx in the central axis and at the base of each candle gives the lighting fixture not only significant weight but also visual depth, creating a unique light refraction effect in the stone when the lamp is lit.

Application The chandelier is exceptionally suitable as the main focal point and lighting fixture in a representative living room, a dining room above a large solid wood table, or in a spacious hall with high ceilings. It brings the atmosphere of exquisite Parisian salons and historical residences into the space.

Condition In excellent and fully functional antique condition. The massive brass frame and arms are firm, stable, and without deformation. The green onyx stone details are completely intact, polished, without cracks or chips. The electrical wiring has been checked and is ready for immediate installation. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.

Louis XVI style snapshot: Katharina Schratt stood in the middle of her Viennese salon, awaiting the arrival of afternoon guests for a tea ritual. Her gaze lifted upwards towards the heavy ceiling chandelier, whose green onyx vase and polished bases caught the sunbeams falling through the window, making the stone gently glow from within. The heavy, gilded brass curves of the arms stretched outwards like frozen, noble lines, bringing an unshakable sense of symmetry and classical peace into the room. The quiet sound of servants’ footsteps and the distant clinking of porcelain cups merged with the calm atmosphere of anticipation, and this object, where the cool substance of stone intertwined with the brilliance of metal, instantly transformed the space into a radiant and aristocratic art space.
