Antiquarian Silver-Plated Salver Tray with Vine Relief Rim — Victorian Style

This exceptional late 19th-century English serving salver is a definitive statement of period domestic luxury, featuring an extensively engraved surface on four low-profile support feet (antique silver-plated salver tray). The heavy base plate is masterfully decorated across its entire interior with fine, hand-chased scrolling acanthus foliate and floral swags, flanking a central vacant cartouche meant for a family crest or monogram. The raised border is enveloped by an intensely detailed, high-relief cast metal rim realistically depicting intertwined grapevines, leaves, and hanging grape clusters. The entire configuration rests securely upon four heavily sculpted baroque-style feet detailed with scrolling acanthus volutes to protect underlying polished furniture surfaces. Bearing authentic stamped manufacturer hallmarks and silver-plate verification marks on the reverse, this elegant display tray serves as an impressive focal point for a formal sideboard or dining table, capturing the high-society aesthetic of the late Victorian era. The physical condition is excellent. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.

Louis XVI Style snapshot: The portraitist Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun) with a light movement of her hand placed her freshly washed brushes upon the round, shimmering tray in the corner of her Parisian salon. The autumn morning sun, breaking through the delicate curtains, illuminated the silvered surface and the deep reliefs of vine motifs that wrapped around the rim. The cool, smooth metal base beneath her fingers held a pure, laconic peace, contrasting with the four cast feet that rested firmly against the dark wooden side table. The quiet sound of a maid’s steps behind the door and the clinking of porcelain dishes filled the room before painting the marquise’s portrait, instantly transforming an ordinary moment into an immortal and noble ritual.
