“ADP France” luxury porcelain tea and coffee set with gilding

A snapshot of Parisian Ritz elegance, Marcel Proust: In the halls of the famous “Ritz Paris” hotel, where the air was filled with the scent of fine tea, fresh pastries, and the barely perceptible aroma of expensive perfumes, the writer Marcel Proust often spent his afternoons observing Parisian high society. On his table, next to an untouched madeleine cake, was a tea set whose bright gold accents reflected the light of the crystal chandelier.

He paid attention to the fineness of the porcelain and the exquisite, lace-like engraving of the wide gold band. This dinnerware set embodied precisely the aristocratic luxury and aesthetic perfection that characterized the Belle Époque era and which he described in such detail in his works. The rim of the cup, touching the lips, felt as light as air, while the classic shape of the coffee pot recalled the “art de vivre” (art of living) — a tradition in which beauty and functionality are inseparable.

This set, much like Proust’s memories, was designed to preserve fleeting moments and transform an ordinary tea-drinking into a solemn, timeless ritual, where the sparkle of gold and the fragility of porcelain celebrate the most exquisite side of life.

Introduction and origin This wonderful tea and coffee set is a high-quality porcelain product. The stamp “VERITABLE PORCELAINE DE LUXE / ADP FRANCE” on the bottom of the dishes confirms their belonging to luxury class products. Although ADP (“Ateliers de Porcelaine” or a similar abbreviation) is a lesser-known mass producer, the stamp clearly indicates a product from the mid or second half of the 20th century, when masters continued to uphold the traditions of historical luxury and quality.

Design and decor The design of the set combines classic restraint with absolute luxury. The snow-white, fine, and thin porcelain is adorned with extremely rich, wide gold bands. The gilding is not just smooth; it is enriched with a delicate, engraved relief-like pattern reminiscent of fine lace, floral, and geometric motifs (characteristic of Classicism and Empire style influences). Gold accents are also found on the inner rims of the cups, handles, and lid knobs, creating an excellent contrast between white and gold. The cups have a gentle, open petal shape.

Application The set includes cups, saucers, a large coffee/tea pot with a lid, a sugar bowl with a lid, and a milk jug. This set is ideal for festive moments, elegant family breakfasts, or afternoon tea rituals. It will fit perfectly into both classic and modern interiors as an expressive and aristocratic element.

Condition Excellent vintage condition. The porcelain has no chips or cracks. The rich gilding is well-preserved and very bright, with minimal, almost imperceptible signs of natural use. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
