Blue porcelain vase with floral motif and gold handles — Neo-Rococo style

This exquisite, medium-sized porcelain vase is a wonderful example of ceramic tradition, rendered in the elegant and opulent Neo-Rococo style. Its intense cobalt blue background creates a dramatic and deep canvas upon which masterfully hand-painted white and light blue floral motifs — rose and anemone blossoms — stand out vividly, lending the piece a romantic and airy atmosphere.

The expressive, sculptural gold-colored handles, shaped as asymmetrical acanthus leaves and flowing forms, add a special luxury and dimension to the vase, reflecting the spirit of classical Rococo art. The wavy rim of the vase, also accented with a delicate gold line, completes the harmonious and flowing silhouette of this piece.

Period of Manufacture This item was crafted in the second half of the 20th century, continuing the classic styles of ancient and refined porcelain painting traditions.

Manufacturer and Mark The underside of the vase bears the mark “LIMOGES FRANCE” and the gold-inscribed designation “Peint main” (hand-painted), complemented by the artist’s initials “JC”. The Limoges region in France is world-renowned for its superior quality porcelain, and hand-painted pieces demonstrate a special individuality and the touch of a master.

Rarity and Significance Authentic and hand-painted Limoges pieces are highly sought after by both collectors and interior designers. The combination of deep cobalt and gold is a classic value that never loses its relevance and signifies exquisite taste.

Application This vase will fit perfectly into both classic and eclectic interiors. It can serve as a standalone decorative element on a mantelpiece, console, or dresser, or be used for floral arrangements, further highlighting its natural and romantic theme.

Condition The item is preserved in excellent visual condition. The gilding around the handles and rims has retained its luster, and the color pigments remain vibrant and unfaded. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.

From the Parisian artist’s studio, Marie Laurencin: The afternoon sun slowly glides across the wooden floor of the Montmartre studio, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air and creating a warm atmosphere. The room is filled with the sweet aroma of oil paints, turpentine, and slightly wilted roses arranged in a vase. The painter, dressed in a simple silk blouse, momentarily sets aside her palette and steps back from the easel to critically assess the just-finished pastel portrait.

Her gaze accidentally falls upon the intensely blue, smooth surface on a wooden table, where the gold relief playfully reflects the sun’s rays. The artist’s fingers lightly glide over the cool porcelain and the curved handles, feeling the contrast between the deep cobalt and the white-painted petals. This touch and the grace of the form bring her a new breath of inspiration and aesthetic pleasure before she returns to her canvas and world of colors.
