1. Description in Exquisite country manor elegance, warm cream tone, and delicate nature-inspired motifs for your interior charm! Site antik1.com offers an exclusive, large-sized antique toilet and wash accessory set, executed in a refined and cozy Art Nouveau (Art Nouveau / Aesthetic Movement) aesthetic. The set includes two main vessels — a large water jug and its matching wash basin. The vessels are made of high-quality, fine faience in a warm, soft yellow or cream tone, adorned with detailed, atmospheric, and expressive stylized nature motifs in brown decal technique. The surface of the vessels depicts delicate forest ferns, wild grasses, and meadow plants, creating a romantic and natural image. The set has no gilding, which perfectly highlights its pure country elegance and historical charm aesthetic.
About origin and marking:
No factory brand stamps are applied or embossed on the base of the vessels. However, historical, hand-made markings are visible in the porcelain/faience mass:
- Handwritten inscription “E2498” (or E 2498).
- Faintly visible, hand-drawn letter “L”.
Handwritten model and decor numbers of this type around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries were characteristic of the best and Belgian elite workshops (e.g., “Terre de Fer” class manufacturers) that produced top-class bathroom and toilet accessories for affluent European homes.
- Period: Art Nouveau / “Belle Époque” period, circa 1900.
- Material: High-quality antique fine faience / semi-porcelain in a warm, soft yellow cream tone.
- Set composition and dimensions (Total 2 items):
- Large water jug (Height: 30.5 cm; with a distinctive, relief Art Nouveau handle, flowing spout, and brown meadow plant motifs on both sides)
- Large wash basin (Height: 14 cm, width/diameter: 42.5 cm; with a wavy rim and ornate internal and external decor)
- Condition: Excellent antique condition, which is a great rarity for items of this age and daily use. Both items in the set are completely intact — without cracks, without chips, without hairline cracks, and without any signs of restoration. The glaze is shiny, clean, with a natural, fine, and delicate time network (crazing), which only confirms the respectable age of the set and gives it special historical value.
