Luxurious Antique Silver-Plated Tea and Coffee Service Set – Neo-Rococo Style (antique silver tea coffee service set) (4421)
This exquisite, antique four-piece antique silver tea coffee service set is a splendid example of late 19th-century European applied art and table culture. The set includes four inseparable and stylistically unified pieces: an elegant teapot, a taller coffee pot, a two-handled sugar bowl, and a graceful milk jug. Each item stands out with a distinctly plastic and dynamic Neo-Rococo silhouette, complemented by diagonal, winding embossed bands and lush Baroque rocaille and floral engravings, creating an expressive play of light and shadow on the silver-plated surface.
Craftsmanship & Period Made in Europe, in the late 19th century (approximately 1880–1890), during the heyday of the Belle Époque, when luxurious and ritualistic tea and coffee drinking vessels became an absolute standard in aristocratic salons.
Maker / Signature / Mark The service bears the technological features of top-level specialized silversmith workshops. The bases and assembly points of the items attest to the craftsmanship characteristic of the late 19th century — the lids of the pots are adorned with original, warm-toned insulating material (bone) handles, which protected hands from heat, while the curved metal handles themselves are equipped with classic heat-dampening rings.
Rarity & Significance The greatest value of this set is its complete preservation as a whole. In the antique market, such silver-plated services are often divided into individual pieces, making an authentic, four-piece set in excellent visual harmony a rare find for collectors and enthusiasts of historical lifestyles. The empty shield-shaped cartouche fields on the sides of the vessels offer the new owner the opportunity to engrave their family monogram.
Application & Interior Use This service is ideally suited for a formal, aristocratic table setting, and also serves as an excellent design accent in a presentable dining room, on a neoclassical buffet, or a silver tray. It instantly catches the eye and lends the space the atmosphere of 19th-century European high society salons.
Condition The set is in very good historical condition. The silver plating is fully preserved, with a pleasant, deep luster and a natural, light patina of time, which particularly highlights the delicate relief and engraved motifs in the deep bands. The interior of the vessels is clean, and all lid hinge mechanisms work flawlessly. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
Victorian snapshot: Johann Strauss Jr. (Johann Strauss Sp.) sat on the sunny terrace of his Viennese villa, where a gentle morning breeze swayed the white curtains. On the table, next to freshly written sheet music, four winding, sculpturally crafted forms with delicate floral reliefs and bone knobs on their lids shimmered softly. The morning sun’s rays broke along the silver-plated bands of the pots, casting sparkling reflections on the crystal glasses and the bright walls of the room. This warm, precious metallic glow and the scent of coffee and fresh roses lingering in the air brought such contentment and carefree exhilaration to the morning that it could not be expressed in words.
