Luxurious antique brass and porcelain six-light ceiling lamp with ceramic flowers — Baroque style
This unusually poetic, form-rich, and visually grand six-arm ceiling lamp (antique brass and porcelain six arm chandelier with ceramic flowers) is an exclusive example of the synergy between late 19th-century European art metalwork and fine porcelain craftsmanship. The chandelier’s design is based on the magnificent Baroque (historicism) style aesthetic, offering an exquisite and theatrical interplay of materials. The central shaft is designed as a slender, white porcelain casing with longitudinal gold stripes, which is entwined along its entire length by delicate, hand-crafted and finely painted ceramic or hard porcelain clusters of rose flowers and leaves in soft pink, yellow, and green tones. At the bottom, the massive cast brass base transitions into six extended and ornate light arms, adorned with flowing C-shaped rocaille and floral carved-style tendrils.
A special atmosphere of salon luxury and soft light is imparted to the item by the decorative porcelain socket bobeches below the bulb holders, designed as blooming, white floral cups with delicate gold rim accents. All brass elements are covered with a noble, shiny gilding, which over time has acquired a pleasant, dark shading and natural patina in the relief recesses. At the top, the composition is completed by an equally luxurious, relief brass ceiling rose. Such elite and technically complex chandeliers, where cold, metallic metal is visually lightened by fragile porcelain plasticity, historically served as the main treasure of the interior in reception salons, boudoirs, and home libraries in European high society.
Period of Manufacture Dated to the late 19th century, approximately 1880–1895, when high demand for combinations of historical styles such as floral light fixtures inspired by Porcelaine de Paris or Meissen traditions flourished in leading and workshops.
Manufacturer / Signature / Stamp The item is an outstanding and meticulous handicraft from a specialized art workshop and porcelain manufactory. The purity of the metal casting, the plasticity of the delicate ceramic petals, and the rear construction nodes attest to the professional class of experienced masters, created in small, exclusive custom editions.
Rarity and Significance The main collection value of the chandelier lies in the excellent preservation of its delicate elements and the complete symmetry of all six arms. As the hand-crafted ceramic flowers and porcelain cups are extremely fragile, they were most often chipped over time and during transport, but in this specimen, the floral garland and gilding have been preserved in excellent visual substance.
Application The chandelier will serve as a stunning visual centerpiece in a representative living room, hallway, bedroom, or above a round coffee table. It instantly lends the space a romantic flair, spring-like lightness, and substance, harmonizing excellently with classic historical furniture.
Condition Excellent antique condition. The massive brass structure and arms are perfectly straight, firm, and stable. The porcelain central shaft and all six cups are free of cracks or chips. The delicate ceramic rose flowers and leaves are miraculously well-preserved with minimal, tiny signs of age. The lamp is ready for immediate hanging. The condition is fully reflected in the photographs.
Snapshot of Literary Dialogue: On a solemn and calm spring afternoon, as the branches of blooming apple trees in the garden gently tap against the tall windows, a profound peace reigns in the small drawing-room of an old manor house. In the center of the room, above a light table where afternoon coffee has just been served, a magnificent light fixture calmly and majestically rises, its gilded brass arms and ceramic roses entwined around the porcelain axis warmly reflecting the sun’s rays. Lady Alice, with a slow, elegant movement, fills porcelain cups, allowing her gaze to linger for a moment on the delicate, pink flower buds that so vividly contrast with the room’s serious substance. Such exquisite interplay of materials and purity of forms brings an atmosphere of true nature’s awakening and endless beauty into the thick salon walls, completely erasing the boundaries between the mood of classical Romantic poetry and the noble elegance of this chandelier.
