Jug: Height 26 cm, width ~18 cm
Hand-painted faience wash jug and basin set with a soft blue background, pink rose garlands, and a russet or gold rim — a typical Victorian-era (second half of the 19th century, approx. 1860–1890) domestic item that testifies to the elegance and everyday home culture of that time. An impressed oval mark is visible on the back of the jug and the bottom of the basin, most likely reading “MONS” or “NIMY” — an indication of the famous Belgian faience manufacturer Mouzin-Lecat & Cie, which operated in Nimy-les-Mons near the city of Mons from 1798 and reached its peak precisely between 1851–1890, exporting products throughout Europe. The set fits perfectly into a romantic or Provençal-style interior — on a dressing table, in a bathroom, or as a decorative accent on a living room shelf. Condition is consistent with age: minor signs of scratching on the bottom of the basin and signs of glaze wear on the handle and spout rim, which we consider authentic evidence of aging, with no breaks or cracks. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
A hand-painted faience wash jug and basin set featuring a soft cobalt blue ground, garlands of pink roses, and gilt trim — a quintessential piece of Victorian domestic life dating to approximately 1860–1890. An impressed oval mark visible on the underside of the basin most likely reads “MONS” or “NIMY”, pointing to the renowned Belgian pottery Mouzin-Lecat & Cie, established in Nimy-les-Mons near the city of Mons in 1798 and at its peak between 1851 and 1890, when its wares were exported throughout Europe. The set pairs beautifully with romantic, Provençal, or Victorian-style interiors — on a dressing table, in a bathroom, or displayed as a decorative accent on a shelf or console. Condition is consistent with age: minor surface scratches to the interior of the basin and light wear to the gilt on the handle and spout rim, all considered natural patina, with no cracks or chips observed. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
