Description
EN: Elegant and Tall Antique Style Wall Mirror in a Gilded Neo-Rococo Frame (6445)
Height — 149.5 cm
Width — 38 cm
An exquisite, slender, and highly decorative antique-style full-length wall mirror (antique narrow full length gilt mirror), combining historical Neo-Rococo plasticity with functional elegance. The mirror’s wooden and stucco frame is finished in a shimmering, warm gold tone, with a subtle reddish base layer (bole) patina peeking through, creating a noble and naturally aged antique effect. The top of the frame is crowned with an impressive, openwork, and sculpturally deep carved wood crest featuring sinuous rocaille waves and relief roses. A similar, but flatter, floral element adorns the base of the mirror, while delicate floral bud accents are incorporated into the corners of the frame itself. Due to its slender proportions (almost 150 cm in height and only 38 cm in width), this mirror does not take up much space, yet it dramatically expands the room visually and adds verticality.
Craftsmanship & Period Mid to second half of the 20th century. The frame is inspired by 18th-century Rococo of the Louis XV period and 19th-century historical revivalism (Neo-Rococo), where the primary aesthetic goal was the symbiosis of flowing lines and natural motifs.
Maker / Signature / Mark The item is a high-quality and pure work of European artisans without industrial stamps. The back of the mirror features a smooth, rigid, and natural wooden backing equipped with a secure industrial metal loop for immediate wall mounting.
Rarity & Significance Wall mirrors with such pronounced “slender” proportions are relatively sought after and rare in the interior market, as most antique mirrors tend to be wide and bulky. Its value lies precisely in the openwork top crest, which has retained all its delicate petal details intact.
Application & Interior Use This mirror will be a perfect addition to a narrow entryway, hallway, dressing table area in a bedroom, or boudoir. It can be wonderfully placed between two windows or in a niche. The mirror’s surface excellently reflects light, illuminating even the darkest corners of the room.
Condition The mirror and its frame are in excellent antique condition. The glass surface is clean, bright, and free from amalgam damage (black spots), providing a perfect and clear reflection. The solid frame is structurally sound and stable, with the floral reliefs and openwork crest being completely intact, without any breaks or signs of restoration. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
Snapshot: Princess Diana sits at her dressing table in her Kensington Palace apartment on a sunny afternoon, watching the light bring warmth into the depths of the room. On the wall, alongside a bouquet of fresh flowers, this tall, slender, and shimmering gold Neo-Rococo mirror brings a truly majestic and gentle romantic atmosphere, its crystal-clear glass beautifully reflecting the sparkle of the ceiling chandelier. Her eyes linger on the frame’s openwork, carved roses and the sinuous lines of the crest, seeing in this work the same noble, traditional warmth and domestic stability she always cherished in her surroundings. In a room filled with absolute peace, this artistic accent provides true satisfaction and a moment of visual clarity before the start of a new day’s activities.
