Description
Bronze Wall Sconce with femme-fleur Figure and Crystal Pendants — Art Nouveau, Belle Époque, France, circa 1890–1910 A large and exceptional bronze wall sconce centred on a sculptural femme-fleur figure in the manner of Auguste Moreau (1834–1917): a young woman with a floral wreath, flowing drapery, roses in hand and one arm raised — a motif emblematic of the great Parisian school of figurative bronze in the late 19th century. The pierced backplate above is enriched with serpent spirals, mascarons and grotesque scrollwork — a synthesis of late Historicism and early Art Nouveau ornament. Two curved arms carry crystal lantern pendants with pierced bronze crowns. No maker’s mark; the quality of modelling points to a professional Parisian fonderie working after Moreau school models. Old electrical wiring on the reverse — inspection by a certified electrician required before use. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.
