Luxurious antique style brass tray with mirror surface

Exquisite, small and visually stunning bedroom or tabletop accessory – decorative tray with mirror base (small brass mirror tray vanity). The item’s body is made of solid brass and crafted in the expressive, plastic Neo-Rococo (Second Rococo) style aesthetic. Its frame is covered with a rich, asymmetrical and spatial relief decoration depicting classic rocaille, blooming flowers, and winding acanthus leaf motifs. On the sides, the frame casting naturally transitions into two integrated, open, and arched handles with expressive volute spirals. A smooth mirror surface is embedded in the center of the tray, which perfectly reflects light and the objects placed on it. The back is reinforced with a historical, smooth wooden base plate attached with original metal screws, protecting the mirror’s amalgam and ensuring structural stability.

Period of creation Mid-20th century, crafted in the tradition of reviving luxury items and historical styles of 19th-century and European bedrooms.

Manufacturer / Signature / Stamp The item represents the work of European specialized art foundries and decorative bronze/brass workshops that provided the highest quality vanity and bedroom accessories. Specific manufacturer stamps or signatures on the metal structure have not been preserved.

Rarity and Significance Such small mirror trays or vanity trays are relatively rare due to their expressive and dense artistic casting. The special charm of the item arises from the optical interaction between the heavy, detailed brass frame and the clear mirror surface, which visually enhances the spatiality of the objects placed on it.

Application The tray is perfectly suited for a dressing table, bedroom, or nightstand to display perfume bottles, jewelry, or small cosmetic accessories. It also serves as an exquisite standalone decorative accent in a classic, historicized, or eclectic interior on a console or chest of drawers.

Condition In very good antique condition. The solid brass frame and handles are firm, stable, without cracks or signs of restoration. A naturally darkened, pleasant, and uneven historical patina has formed on the metal surface, highlighting the depth of the relief design. The mirror surface is clean, undamaged, with minimal, authentic microscopic scratches acquired over time. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.

Neo-Rococo Style Snapshot: Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) stood in the flowing light of her morning salon, where sunbeams gently touched branches of blooming magnolias in a vase. Her gaze momentarily rested on a small vanity accessory, whose mirror surface, like clear water, reflected the sparkle of gemstones and the delicate contours of petals. The cool, smooth glass base under her fingers contrasted with the embossed shells of the solid brass frame, which shone in a warm, golden hue in the twists of the handles. The quiet rustle of her silk gown filled the room, and this exquisite form, harmoniously combining the hardness of stone and metal with the play of light, instantly transformed an ordinary morning moment before going to the garden into a ritual of eternal and noble beauty.
