Luxurious Wooden Flower Table Set (3 pcs) with Cane and Glass – Louis XV Style

This exceptionally practical, visually light, and poetic set of three nesting or sliding flower tables (antique Louis XV style wooden nesting tables) is a magnificent example of mid-20th century European furniture art and salon culture. The set includes three rectangular tables of graduated sizes, designed to be conveniently nested one under the other to save space. Each table’s frame and curved legs are crafted from high-quality, dense wood with a distinctive wood grain in a warm, natural brown tone. The edges of the wooden frames and the bases of the curved legs are adorned with delicate, hand-carved floral ornaments and classic rococo-style fluting.

The unique surfaces lend particular elegance and historical substance to these pieces. Beneath the original, smooth, and transparent protective glass lies a filigree, densely woven mesh of natural cane or rattan (caning). The central part of the cane mesh features a raised, oval wooden medallion with an elegant carved floral rosette. The wavy edges of the wooden frame are professionally milled and recessed to perfectly seat the glass. This type of “nesting” table (nesting tables), in the style, historically served in ladies’ salons and conservatories to display cascading floral arrangements, vases, or coffee sets without obstructing the room’s spaciousness.

Period of Manufacture Dated to the mid-20th century, approximately the 1950s–1960s, when the culture of high-quality and technically perfect revival of historical styles flourished in leading and Italian furniture workshops, creating exquisite historicist elements for elite interiors.

Maker / Signature / Mark The set is a high-quality, solid, and meticulously crafted piece of European specialized furniture workshop handiwork. The structural integrity, precision of the carvings, and the taut tension of the cane mesh indicate the high professional class and exclusive execution of experienced masters.

Rarity & Significance The greatest value of this exhibit lies in the complete visual and technical preservation of all three elements and the integrity of the glass surfaces. As the delicate rattan cane often cracks or gets damaged over time and due to humidity, such a clean, taut ensemble with a perfectly intact mesh and original protective glass is a valuable and sought-after find in the antique market.

Application & Interior Use The set is exceptionally versatile – the tables can be arranged progressively side-by-side in a living room as a coffee and magazine area, placed on a closed veranda for potted plants, or used individually as elegant side tables next to Louis XV style sofas or beds.

Condition Excellent antique condition. The wooden frames and curved legs of all three tables are perfectly straight, firm, and stable. All carved elements and floral medallions are fully preserved, without damage. The cane mesh on all three tables is taut, clean, and free of tears or indentations. All three glass surfaces are completely intact, without cracks or chips. The condition of the item is fully reflected in the photographs.

Literary Dialogue Snapshot: In the solemn and quiet small salon of a mid-20th century European manor house, where the gentle afternoon sunlight slowly streams through the tall windows, an atmosphere of refined art and coziness prevails. Next to the light curtains and porcelain cabinets on the wall, these three wooden tables are arranged in a cascade, their glass surfaces and delicate rattan cane mesh clearly reflecting the daylight beneath freshly watered potted flowers. The hostess, slowly arranging lush dahlias in a beautiful vase on the largest table, pauses for a moment and looks at the carved floral medallions, which gleam so wonderfully through the clear glass. The warm brown of the wood and the flowing lines of the legs bring an undeniable sense of traditional security and ascetic comfort to the room, completely blurring the lines between the feeling of home captured in the pages of classic psychological prose and the noble elegance of this furniture ensemble.
