Exquisite Antique French Leather Vanity Cases — Historism Style (antique french vanity case boxes leather) (5976)
These highly charming antique french vanity case boxes leather are spectacular remnants of late 19th-century French salon culture and personal travel luxury. Traditionally structured in an elegant oval silhouette, the cases are tightly bound in rich black leather with contrast perimeter stitching. The large case features a gilded inscription reading French Milled Soap highlighted by a royal Fleur-de-lis and a golden silk tassel, while the smaller box reads Fine French Perfume Paris finished with a matching black textile tassel. The front of both luggage cases is artfully anchored by a beautiful embroidered pink stiletto shoe silhouette underscored by the word Elegance.
Dating to the late Historism / early Belle Époque era in France (circa 1885–1895), these vanity cases represent bespoke craftsmanship tailored for the elite. The interior compartments open smoothly to reveal their original, untouched vibrant royal red velvet lining. Complete with sturdy leather handles, operational brass hinges, and functional front button straps, these rare cosmetic trunks remain beautifully preserved. They are exceptional statement pieces to grace a ladies’ dressing bureau, a luxury bathroom vanity, or displayed as unique collector’s objects.
Historical snapshot from the Belle Époque era: Marcel Proust (Marcel Proust) stood by the large, bright window in his Paris hotel room, watching the morning sun slowly disperse the mist over the boulevards. Through the half-open door of the adjoining room, the quiet rustle of a silk dress and a faint scent of expensive powder and rose water drifted in. On the dressing table next to the silver mirror lay two oval, mute black leather chests, whose gilded letters and embroidered pink silhouettes shimmered warmly in the light. As the lid was lifted, it released not only the gleam of red velvet but also that distant, carefree atmosphere of travel and manor comfort that could only be felt through its mood.
