Description
Antique bistro table with marble top — late 19th century
This iconic, extremely heavy, and completely authentic garden table is an excellent example of historicism (Napoleonic III / Belle Époque period) urban and outdoor design, created in the late 19th century. The table (antique bistro table) combines the durability of large cast iron with the elegance of natural stone. The top is made of thick, single-piece natural light marble with beautiful natural veins. The base consists of an extremely heavy and stable cast iron tripod, detailed with historical fluting, raised plant rings, and bold rocaille-style legs. Importantly, the base has not been treated with modern paints, retaining its original, centuries-old green and amber oxidized patina acquired from prolonged outdoor exposure. Preserved in excellent antique condition, with perfect structural balance, this very rare table is highly valued among collectors for premium landscape design and interior design exhibitions.
Artistic snapshot from an Etretat evening: A sunny July afternoon in 1905 on the Etretat promenade. On an exclusive coastal bistro terrace, surrounded by lush hydrangea bushes and overlooking the monumental chalk arches, writers and artists gather to enjoy chilled Calvados. The Atlantic wind blows across the coast, catching the silhouette of a distant stone chapel perched on the ridge. This impressive table stands firm and unwavering on the stone tiles, completely undisturbed by the sea breeze, while golden sunlight dances on the smooth marble surface where crystal glasses are placed — capturing a complete, serene moment of undeniable Belle Époque luxury and elite leisure.

The classic antique bistro table features a thick, single-piece solid natural light marble top with beautiful organic veining and a mature stone texture. The top rests upon an incredibly heavy and stable tripod base, detailed with historical fluting, raised plant rings, and bold rocaille-style legs. Importantly, the base has not been treated with modern paints, retaining its original, centuries-old green and amber oxidized patina. Preserved in excellent antique condition with perfect structural balance, this very rare table is highly valued among collectors for premium landscape design and interior design exhibitions.
