Fine antique porcelain tableware — Art Nouveau (antique jug jar austrian porcelain set) (3694)
These unusually fine antique porcelain tableware (antique jug jar austrian porcelain set) are outstanding examples of Austrian decorative art from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, created during the early flourishing of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil / Art Nouveau). The offering includes two independent art objects: a slender, asymmetrical porcelain jug with a unique handle shaped like a wooden branch or bamboo stem and a relief, daisy-patterned upper rim, as well as a treasure chest-like porcelain jar with a precisely fitting lid. Both vessels are decorated with exquisite, delicate spring and summer floral motifs, complemented by rich and precisely executed relief gold dot and line detailing.
Period of Manufacture Made in Austria, between 1890 and 1900, when masters from the Vienna and Carlsbad regions dictated the new interior fashion inspired by natural forms throughout Europe.
Manufacturer / Signature / Stamp As seen in the close-up base image IMG_5263-600×800.jpg, an authentic factory stamp with a crown and the inscription Carlsbad / Made in Austria, as well as numbered master signatures in red, has been preserved only on the jug with the handle. The second object (the jar with the lid) is stylistically completely identical in craftsmanship and material execution from the same series, made as an indivisible addition.
Rarity and Significance The uniqueness of the tableware lies in its asymmetrical form and exquisite relief technique. The gold-colored dots and lines on the surface of the vessels are applied in a noticeable thick layer, forming a tangible, three-dimensional ornament. Austrian porcelain from the early Art Nouveau period, which so finely combines the elite of classical porcelain with the flowing lines and textures of nature, is of great value in the antique market in such a state of preservation.
Application This tableware is ideally suited for display in the most exclusive areas of an interior — on a lady’s boudoir table, in a display cabinet, or as standalone salon accents. They will serve perfectly as exquisite vases for small bouquets or as magnificent decorative vessels that instantly lend a space an atmosphere of historical European charm and aristocracy.
Condition The tableware is in excellent historical condition. The porcelain is completely clean, without cracks, enamel damage, or chips. The gold-colored detailing, polychrome floral paintings, and soft pastel transitions (pink and green accents) have retained their original freshness and luster. The condition of the items is fully reflected in the photographs.
Austro-Hungarian Snapshot: Gustav Klimt (Gustav Klimt) slowly walked through his Vienna studio, observing how the afternoon light glided over unfinished canvases and sheets of gold leaf. His gaze stopped at the corner of the table, where on a soft chair, two delicate, flowing forms with intricate floral patterns and relief gold dotting shimmered. Sunbeams broke along the asymmetrical edge of the porcelain jug and the wooden branch-shaped handle, transforming the coolness of the northern light into a theatrical, warm, and expensive play of brilliance. This still life motif and the gleam of gold among the paint pots brought into the room that decorative depth and longing for the beauty of a new era, which could only be felt before being understood.
