Made approximately in the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1882\u20131919. The style is Limoges naturalistic painting<\/strong> in blue and white tones, which was highly fashionable in aristocratic European hunting services during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The plate form \u2014 scalloped border with a gold beaded rim \u2014 is the classic Limoges decorative plate silhouette. The painting is executed with outstanding artistic skill: against a deep blue-toned misty landscape background with reed silhouettes, a hunting bird is depicted in full motion \u2014 one plate showing a wading bird (snipe<\/em> type) running low across the ground, the other a game bird (grouse<\/em> or similar) rising on the wing. Gold accents in the reed stems and foliage add elegance to the composition. Hunting subjects of this type were commissioned by aristocratic families for their hunting lodges and country residences.<\/p>\n

T&V was one of the leading Limoges porcelain manufactories, specialising in high-quality decorative plates and table services for export \u2014 primarily to the United States, Great Britain, and Germany. The manufactory was renowned for the exceptional whiteness and glaze quality of its porcelain, providing an ideal ground for hand-painted decoration. The green triangular T&V mark corresponds to the period from approximately 1892 to 1907.<\/p>\n
