The table dates to approximately 1820\u20131860<\/strong>, the period when Empire<\/strong> evolved into Neoclassicism<\/strong> and retained all its monumental elements without the political weight.<\/p>\n

Every detail here is a canonical element of the Empire<\/strong> vocabulary: the massive fluted<\/em> column shaft \u2014 a direct reference to ancient Greek and Roman architecture \u2014 rises from a quadrangular pedestal base with a gadrooned<\/em> border, terminating at each corner in four boldly carved lion paw feet<\/em>.
